Ghazal abbasi

Ghazal Abbasi's practice interrogates how modernity and censorship shape personal and collective identity. Working through ritual symbolism and visual contrast—nature against brutalism, silence against expression—she constructs images that probe the psychological weight of contemporary life under social and political constraint. Her methods move fluidly between academic research and intuitive image-making, with works supported by written thesis inquiry. Her series, including Drunk and Insane, Connections, Living Corpses, and Dance of Sorrow, have been shown at institutions such as Foam Museum in Amsterdam and Designmuseum Danmark in Copenhagen. Her work has additionally been published in Lens Magazine, Glamour Affair (Italy), and The PPL Book (France), and exhibited in group shows across Belgium, Indonesia, the USA, the UAE, Paris, and India.
